Isn't it easy to get off focus? Take space travel trajectories, for instance. If NASA had made just one small miscalculation, their space probe would never have landed on Mars, but would have shot past it to forever roam the universe. Just one millimeter off here, means many miles off out there! This reminds me of the importance of being on focus when it comes to our relationship with Jesus. The temptation is huge to make life all about us. Think about it: We get our feelings hurt so easily, we get offended about the simplest of things, we even get angry about things that don't really matter (or shouldn't, anyway). Of any week in the year, this week is the week for us to take a step back and realize what life is all about. This week, we remember that God became a man, then gave up his life on a horrible cross in order to clear the way for us to have a relationship with him forever. GOD did that...for us!!!
We are taking a big risk this Sunday. We are creating a different atmosphere where we can help people discover Jesus. We aren't doing it for ourselves. We're doing it because it seems a lot like something God would do--go where the people are; meet them on their turf and terms! To help us prepare for this event this week, let's all have a re-focusing session with Jesus. Let's ask him to give us eyes to see the world (and it's people) as he does. Let's ask him to help us take the focus off of ourselves to see the needs around us. He promises that as we do, we'll find our needs amazingly met.
I am excited about the opportunities that lie before us this weekend. It's a blast traveling on this journey with all of you! Let's see just where God takes us!
