I opened my Outlook this morning to check my email. Typically, I don't have that many in one day, although my junk folder can accumulate 15-20 in a day. However, I have a bad habit. I let emails sit in my inbox. My rationale: I'll decide what to do with them later.
You guessed it... 'later' never comes.
I currently have 131 emails in my primary account and 255 in my secondary one. I figure I have two choices: 1) Take the time to re-read all 131+255=386 emails and decide what to do with each one, or 2) select all and hit the "delete" key.
Option 1: Ain't gonna happen. I've read them once before and didn't know what to do with them then; probably won't now, either. Option 2: Extremely attractive, although risky.
I'm going with option 2: select all and delete.
You know, many times in life, we just simply need a do-over, a fresh start, a clean slate. Fortunately, God specializes in that type of thing. It will be hard to hit the "delete" key because there is risk involved. What if I delete an important email? That is a definite possibility, but there is always risk involved in do-overs. However, the joy of having that clean slate will far outweigh the risk.
So, what's holding you back from a fresh start with God, a do-over. You have to take the first step and push the "delete" key, though, to walk away from what already has been and is... in order to move on to what can be. You can do it!
Then, trust God to take it from there.
Ok... I'm gonna hit the "delete" key on my inbox now. Wish me luck!
