So, why do we do what we do at GFMC? This week, I'm gonna talk about teen (student) ministry.
GFMC's student ministry covers students 6th-12 grade. During that stage of life, a bunch of things change in the life of a teen. They basically become adults physically, but are still growing mentally and emotionally as they learn to think critically about things and take more responsibility for their lives and decisions they make.
This is why our focus for student ministry is to help equip teens with the tools they need to have a real and vibrant faith, maintain moral boundaries, make wise choices, put others first, and build strong spiritual disciplines. We want to see students view their relationship with Jesus as a decision that will shape and guide their entire adult life.
Our student ministry consists of three main environments:
- Big Group Gathering, Wednesdays, 6:45pm
- Small groups, which meet at various times and places
- Fun Events, typically held once a quarter or more
A question that is often asked is why don't we offer a "Sunday School" for students on Sunday morning? Wednesday evening serves that purpose for our students. One of our key values is service, and by freeing up our students on Sunday mornings, many choose to serve others through Kidventure and our main Sunday services.
I invite you take a fuller look at our student ministry on our website. As always, ask questions that you may have.
Next on our "so why do we do that?" list: Our Sunday Morning Services.
