Well, here it is... the last blog post I will make for 2009. I've been thinking about how a lot people choose to make New Year's resolutions. Many of those will have to do with having a little less 'butt' in their lives (meaning... weight loss). Working on our butts is important, but I think we believers should work on having less 'but' in our lives, too. What do I mean by this?
I want to serve Jesus with everything I have, but...
I want my devotional time to be better and more consistent, but...
I should be with my fellow believers to worship Jesus more often, but...
I should be in a small group, but...
I should give more of my resources to Jesus, but...
I should find a place of service, but...
I should have Jesus as my priority in life, but...
I should spend more quality time with my family, but...
I should care about others more, but...
You get the drift, I'm sure. We all have plenty of 'buts' and more to spare! What if we chose to get rid of those big 'buts,' though? What if we decided that 2010 would be the year of no 'buts' for us? Just think of what God could accomplish through each and every one of us if we just said no to 'but.'
Good luck to those of you who are striving to have less 'butt' in your lives for 2010! But I especially pray for all of us to have less 'but' as we begin a new year.
God's blessing to you all for a spiritually prosperous 2010!
