I admit it. I read the ingredients list on food items.
I pay close attention to what I eat, but I'm not a total health fanatic or anything. I read the labels mainly because I want to gauge how much 'fake' food I take in. Bottom line for me: There can't be too much that's good about food ingredients that have more than three syllables and have the words "poly" or a number in them (ex: polysorbate 80, red #1748713248). That's probably why I don't like those nasty Peeps.
Here's a funny... I like to use butter, not margarine, but I'm outnumbered on that in my family, so margarine is usually available. Anyway, the other evening, I was asking Meghan if she wanted "butter or artificial butter-flavored partially hydrogenated vegetable oil" (main ingredient in margarine). Do you know what her answer was? "I want the fake stuff."
Just a moment while I pick myself up off the floor. What??? The "fake stuff?" She not only liked the margarine better, she actually knew it was FAKE! AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Ya know... do we do the same thing as we live life? Settle for the fake? What about when it comes to our relationship with Jesus and living a life that honors him as King? Is fake good enough for us? Is that what we really want?
Margarine? No thanks. Please pass the butter.

I'm with you Jerry I like butter not the "fake stuff". I also like the real Jesus not the "fake one" I'm trying to build my relationship with him and make it stronger everyday. That isn't easy all the time but I'm working on it.
